When three uniquely talented House Music veterans join forces for the first time on a project you never quite know what the outcome will be. Egos can run amok and spawn horrendous results, or a ‘perfect storm’ of harmonious, collaborative bliss can ensue. Thankfully we’ve been blessed with the later and are extremely proud to bring you the fruit of their labor – “PLAY.”

GROOVE JUNKIES: Songwriter, producer, arranger, remixer, DJ and MoreHouse Records co-founder Evan Landes (aka Groove Junkies & various alias’) has gained wide support and respect throughout the international dance community for over two decades. Evan’s original productions and remixes have amassed numerous Top 10 positions on Traxsource’s Top 100 Charts, DJ Mag’s Hype Chart, Beatport’s House Chart & Billboard’s Dance Chart. Most recently his ‘Rework’ of Spiritchasers’ iconic track « CONCH » shot to the number one spot on TS in Dec. 2014. He’s also collaborated on club anthems for the likes of Om Records and Ben Watt’s Buzzin’ Fly and has contributed to the output of iconic labels such as Island/Def Jam, A&M, Warner Bros., J Records, Interscope, Ultra, Defected, Definity, Soulfuric, Mn2S, Quantize, Duffnote and Zulu. Groove Junkies Original Mix of « PLAY » explores the deeper, vibier side of the soulful pond. Warm filtered pads, phat analogue bass, quirky synth work and big percussive hits serve as the perfect backdrop to Carolyn’s amazing vocal.

MICHELE CHIAVARINI: Multi-instrumentalist maestro Michele Chiavarini’s career as a songwriter, arranger, composer, producer, remixer, sound designer and session musician, spans over 20 years. It’s no wonder why he’s been Dave Lee’s (aka Joey Negro and various other pseudo names) go to keyboardist / arranger for much of this period. Michele’s studio contributions can be heard on projects ranging from industry veterans and icons such as Robbie Williams, Diana Ross, Luciano Pavarotti, Seal, Kylie Minogue, Soul II Soul & Simply Red, to his stellar work within the realm of dance music. Throughout clubland he is best known for his keyboard prowess on hundreds of productions by some of the top DJs / Producers in the world including Mark Knight, ATFC, Seamus Haji, Robert Owens and Danny Rampling to name a few. Comin’ off a monster year where his huge hit « Let Me See You (Clap Your Hands) » was the 13th most downloaded song of 2014 on Traxsource, his interpretation of « PLAY » has all the makings of another massive feel good, party anthem. Simply put, his mix is classic, soulful house at it’s best!

CAROLYN HARDING: Singer, songwriter and author Carolyn Harding has been blowing away audiences throughout the world since the mid 80’s. She’s performed at legendary venues such as Paradise Garage, Studio 54, Fun House, Zanzibar, Palladium, Ministry of Sound UK, Southport Weekender, Club Yellow Japan, Axil Pairs, Lime Light NY, Cheetah Club, Red Parrot, Copa Cabana, 1st Ave MN, and many more. Early influences such as Jazz greats Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington inspired her to find her own incredible voice. A singer’s singer, Carolyn has had highly successful records out on legendary labels such as Emergency (« Memories » & « Movin On »), King Street Sounds (« Pick It U »), Strictly Rhythm (« Sing A Song »), Jellybean (« Let It Rain ») and Z Records (« Movin’ On, » « Think Positive » and “Your Gonna Love Me”). The iconic House legend has graced us with yet another immensely appealing vocal performance. Soulful, seductive, effortless & stellar best describe Carolyn’s work here on « PLAY. »

Si Evan Landes a fait progressivement évoluer le style musical de Groove Junkies, de la Soulful funky des débuts avec Parrish Wintersmith vers celui plus underground et pumpin’ de 2015, force est de constater qu’il a toujours su s’entourer des meilleurs artistes, musiciens, remixeurs.

Son label More House frappe un grand coup ce mois-ci en annonçant la sortie prochaine de cette release avec Carolyn Harding, chanteuse qui se faisait plutôt rare sur les productions House ces derniers temps.

J’adore la voix, la sensualité de Carolyn Harding , qui est l’une des artistes les plus expérimentées dans le circuit, ayant travaillé avec les plus grands producteurs.
Avec Dawn Tallman et Jocelyn Brown, c’est l’une de mes voix House préférées.

Sur ce nouveau titre, Carolyn délivre une excellente prestation, avec douceur et volupté.

Les remixes d’Evan sont très deep et planants, un peu à l’image de ce que fait Richard Earnshaw dernièrement. Une tendance adoptée apparemment par de nombreux producteurs estampillés Soulful, qui essaient de donner à un nouveau souffle à un style parfois jugé vieillissant.

J’aime beaucoup le Groove Junkies Original Mix:star: où partie vocale et sonorités électroniques se complètent parfaitement. Les bleeps électroniques, fx’s et arpégiateurs utilisés sur cette version donnent de la dynamique au morceau.

Play est également remixé par Michele Chiavarini, bien connu pour son travail de claviériste et d’arrangeur pour Joey Negro.
Le vocal et l’instrumental de Michele sont deux petits bijoux de musique 100% Soulful, riche et funky. Cuivres généreux, strings, guitares et bien sûr claviers étincelants caractérisent ces deux versions.

Assurément une des meilleurs releases à venir sur février.
